Description
Birmingham City Council's Visitor Destination Plan 2022-27 was adopted to develop the various facets of the city's tourism offer and improve the experience for visitors at all stages of their journey. Following the success of the 2022 Commonwealth Games, Birmingham has been receiving more interest and visits from domestic and international visitors. It has a strong retail offer and was named the UK's Most Exciting Food Destination by the Good Food Guide 2023. It has been identified by the Council's Tourism Service that the level of expertise in digital marketing is inconsistent across Birmingham's visitor economy. This is particularly evident in the heritage and food sectors where many independent businesses lack the time, money or expertise to communicate effectively with new and existing customers. Business websites vary in quality and compliance with accessibility legislation. Language may also be a barrier for employers working in Birmingham's incredibly diverse food and drink scene.
