L’attività 5521 all’interno della proposta STILES del PNRR, prevede l’allestimento di una nuova struttura per la realizzazione ed il test di prototipi di circuiti elettronici e a microonde presso il laboratorio di Elettronica e Microonde dell'Osservatorio Astronomico di Cagliari (“INAF-OACA”). Nei laboratori dell'Osservatorio di Cagliari vengono progettati, realizzati e caratterizzate parti e componenti di ricevitori radioastronomici, sviluppati, e.g., per il Sardinia Radio Telescope, SKA, ALMA e altre infrastrutture e strutture radioastronomiche terrestri e spaziali. Una delle principali attività consiste nel progettare, realizzare e caratterizzare schede elettroniche per le catene riceventi che operano sia a bassa che ad alta frequenza. Per realizzare tali schede “prototipo”, basate su componenti elettronici sempre più piccoli e integrati, sono necessarie macchine utensili di ultima generazione con risoluzioni e accuratezze sempre più spinte, quali quelle che si intendono acquisire.
