Description
The nature and extent of the proposed development is outlined under points A–D below: (A) Refurbishment of Comerford House which is a Protected Structure (Ref. No. 4003), to provide exhibition spaces, visitor and staff facilities for Galway City Museum. Works will include piling, flood protection works, general upgrade, including refurbishment of internal and external finishes (incl. lime plasterworks), upgrade of existing structure, re-roofing of existing building, museum standard M and E services. Gross Floor Area of 25m2 (B) Construction of a 3- storey steel framed and CLT/Glulam building on piled foundations above the archaeological site adjoining the Spanish Arch, a National Monument, and within a flood zone. Connected to Comerford House it will provide exhibition spaces, storage and visitor facilities, including a new lift and stair, and museum standard M and E services for Galway City Museum.
