Description
This is a contract for the provision of research on the reasons for Housing First (HF) tenant disengagement. Housing stability is a key element of Housing First. Tenants are permanent and must adhere to the terms of the tenancy agreement and be mindful of other neighbours and the wider property environment. Therefore, tenants are required to engage with a member of the Housing First MDT a minimum of once per week. Tenants automatically receive more regular visits when they first move into a tenancy to support their transition from either a rough sleeping or long-term emergency accommodation situation (or previous Housing First tenancy in some cases). However, some tenants stop engaging with the Housing First programme. This is both a source of concern for the MDTs, case managers, and LAs, and is also linked to a general deterioration in the tenants’ wellbeing and impact on the wider environment. Taking this into consideration, this area would benefit from action research into the reasons for disengagement, getting a first-hand view through the eyes of lived experience. HF tenants should therefore be interviewed.
