1. Introduction to Mersey Tidal Liverpool City Region Combined Authority (LCRCA) is preparing designs, investigations, technical and environmental studies, stakeholder consultation and other project development activities in order to make an application for a Development Consent Order (DCO) for the Mersey Tidal Power Project (MTPP). As a major infrastructure and marine energy project, at c. 700 MW - 1 GW scale, there will be the need for a DCO submission supported by an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), consistent with a Schedule 1 project under EIA regulations. MTPP has submitted an EIA Scoping Report in September 2024 and received a Scoping Opinion in October 2024.
