Description

The Department of Education has been granted funds from the REPowerEU programme to complete Energy Inventory Surveys of up to circa 3461 schools located within twenty one (21) counties nationwide in Ireland. This follows an initial pilot scheme of surveys to circa 600 school in five counties in 2022. Each school is to be surveyed by an experienced surveying professional who will gather approximately 160 pieces of identified data, which includes high level building areas, types and condition of different fabric elements and information about lighting, heating and domestic hot water, etc. This data is entered on a tablet computer onsite and then is imported into the Department’s Geographical Information System (GIS), then processed into a relational database, which performs numerous calculations to determine a School Energy and Carbon Estimated Rating (SEACER). The project when completed will provide the Department of Education with the ability to dynamically review and interrogate data on up to 4,000 schools in a strategic manner.
