Description
In 2025 the Norwegian Environment Agency will start a new project that, during the two year project period, shall create a all-covering nature map for use in general area planning and natural accounts at the municipal level. The map shall be based on Nature in Norway the system (NiN) and it will be used for remote measuring data and machine learning models to produce the map. The completed nature chart will consist of several separate surface maps (marine, mountain, lowland). In order to achieve the goal, the project starts with mapping of eight test municipalities. The reference data in the test municipalities shall be collected in summer 2025. The Norwegian Environment Agency will announce a procurement for map production in spring 2025. The notice will cover lowland nature maps for test areas and subsequent nationwide maps for the lowlands, in addition to an option for the production of the completed overall nature chart. The Norwegian Environment Agency would like to present the needs and procurement plans, as well as receive input from interested actors.
