Description
Orkubú Vestfjarða ohf. is preparing a tender for the civil works for the Kvíslatunga Hydropower Project in Selárdalur, Steingrímsfjörður. The tender documents are expected to be published in mid-October 2026, with construction works scheduled to take place during the period 2027–2029. Due to the time of year and weather conditions at the project site, interested contractors are invited to attend a site visit before publication of the tender documents. General Overview of the Works Kvíslatunga will be a 9.9 MW hydropower plant located in Selárdalur, Steingrímsfjörður, approximately 20 km from Hólmavík. Access to the construction site is from Djúpvegur (Road 61), via Strandavegur (Road 643) to Geirmundarstaðavegur (Road 6433), and finally along the newly constructed access road, Kvíslatunguvegur, leading to the site of the proposed powerhouse. Just south of the proposed powerhouse, a new 5 km road runs up Leitishlíð to the location of the proposed intake structure. This road is still under construction.
