Kommunerna upphandlar konsulter inom trafikutredning. Uppdragen kan vara av olika storlek, komplexitet, omfattning och tidshorisont; allt från utredningar där konsulten agerar uppdragsledare/projektledare för större utredningar till fördjupade studier av exempelvis trafik- och gatuutformning. Inom utredningsbegreppet ingår t ex utformande av vägplaner och trafikanalyser. Viss projektering inom ramen för utredningsbehovet ska också ingå.
