Description
This project aims to evaluate the impact of the changing climate trends on the water characteristics of lake, wetlands and coastal ecosystems. The principal aim is to assess coastal risks for society, economy and environment due to land loss, cultural services loss and human displacement due to sea level rise and to develop best possible risk assessments and adaptation strategies for vulnerable areas in Türkiye. Within the project sea-level of Türkiye's coasts of the Aegean Sea and the Mediterranean Sea (excluding islands) will be modelled, water budgets and water quality projections for three lakes/wetlands will be carried out, assessment indicators will be identified, risk analysis and assessments will be made for land loss and for fresh water, climate adaptation strategies and measures for lakes, wetlands and coastal areas will be defined, nature-based solutions will be identified.
