Beschreibung
Within the framework of bilateral cooperation between Burkina Faso and the Federal Republic of Germany, the "Project to Support Internally Displaced Persons and Strengthen the Resilience of Host Communes" began its activities in October 2021. It aims to build the capacity of partner communes and state and non-state actors to improve the social living conditions of internally displaced people and vulnerable host populations in the Centre-Nord region. It is implemented by the German Technical Cooperation (GIZ). The PDICA falls within action area (b) "Stabilization of host regions and integration of refugees and displaced persons in host regions" of the "Refugees and host countries" special initiative. The project will run from 10/2021 to 03/2026. The Sahel and Centre-Nord regions of Burkina Faso are strongly marked by instability and fragility. On March 31, 2023, there were 2,062,534 internally displaced persons (IDPs) from 292,956 households (Conseil National de Secours d'Urgence et de Réhabilitation), including 24.5% IDPs from the Centre-Nord region.
