Description
The NHS England Children and Young People's (CYP) Transformation Programme recognises the role of youth workers in healthcare settings. This acknowledgment is highlighted by the ongoing implementation of our 18-month pilot embedding Youth Workers into acute settings across each NHS England region. The pilot is scheduled to end in March 2025, followed by an independent evaluation report to build on the existing evidence of the impact of health care-based Youth Workers. Operating as a youth worker within a hospital setting demands a unique set of skills that cannot be easily transferred from other contexts. Extensive stakeholder engagement has revealed the absence of a standardised framework tailored specifically for youth workers in healthcare environments. The toolkit development process will involve thorough research into the unique challenges and opportunities present in healthcare settings concerning youth engagement. The delivery partner will work closely with the NHS England CYP Transformation team and key stakeholders to understand the specific requirements and objectives of the toolkit.
