Description
The City of London Corporation (the City) invites Tenders for the provision of The Lord Mayor's Show - Future Opportunities. The office of Mayor of the City of London was created in the 12th Century, with the first Mayor taking office in 1189. The Lord Mayor is elected annually, and, on the second Saturday in November of each year (known as Lord Mayors Day), the incoming Mayor of the City of London travels from Mansion House to the High Court at the Royal Courts of Justice in the City of Westminster where he or she is presented before his Majesty's Judges and swears an Oath of Fealty to the Sovereign. Over the centuries, and now long standing custom and practice, a display of pageantry and public spectacle has developed around the journey, on Lord Mayors Day. This has become known as the Lord Mayors Show (the Show). In 2003, the Lords Mayors Show Ltd (the LMS Ltd/ the Company) was established, a company limited by guarantee, to organise, manage and deliver the Show including all civic and ceremonial aspects.
