Description
Since November 2022, WRAP and partners have been working on the LED 4 Food project. This is a Defra funded, multiyear project on improving public data which will be achieved by updating, harmonising and simplifying the Hestia platform, creating an accessible web-based database and testing outputs with UK businesses via UKFDP. Defra needs to understand and report the environmental impact of activities related to the agri-food system. At present, the available data, standards, methodologies and tools for effective monitoring, reporting and validation (MRV) of the environmental impact data from the agri-food system is limited and generally provided by a diversity of disjointed initiatives with differing level of quality. To enable company level scope 3 emissions reporting and food eco-labelling requires accessible, high quality, reliable data sources, standardised for the entire food system.
