Hydrogen Storage Business Model - Procurement for Hydrogen Storage Rights and associated remarketing services

OPEN EARLY MARKET ENGAGEMENT - this means that a procurement idea is currently active. It is in the early stage of development and judging interest from potential suppliers. Hydrogen storage infrastructure will be critical in supporting the government's low carbon hydrogen production ambitions and the mission to achieve clean power by 2030. To enable this in the near term, hydrogen storage at scale will be required. To support this ambition, the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero has started early strategic planning for a procurement or procurements for rights to store hydrogen in geological storage facilities, and support in remarketing/reselling those rights to end users. The Department intends to commence early engagement with a range of potential suppliers in the geological hydrogen storage market to help inform the procurement strategy in a collaborative manner.
