Description
London Borough of Barking and Dagenham's current contractual arrangement for home care services is due to end 31 March 2024, and we are currently undertaking a commissioning exercise to explore options for new arrangements. Homecare (or 'domiciliary care') is a service provided to people in their homes to help them live their daily lives where they have need for care and support. Activities can include but is not limited to the following: - Encouragement to perform daily living tasks - Personal care including support with toileting, dressing/ undressing, washing/ bathing, transfers to and from their bed/ toilet/ chair etc and disposing of waste/ continence pads. - Prompting/ administering medication in line with legislation i.e. CQC standards - Food and drink preparation/ supervising eating for those at risk of choking - Raising safeguarding concern referrals - Cleaning and domestic support (where part of a larger care package) - Building a relationship with the person who is being cared for' to further understand them as an individual, including their background and preferences.
