Description
This work aims to tackle the deeply tricky challenges of backlog maintenance and infrastructure but also take the opportunity to improve population health, move care closer to people, support a switch to digital services while moving toward net zero. The current work programme across the Alliance for the next four years is, in itself, a significant pipeline, likely to be in the hundreds of millions of pounds and involves some innovative and transformational projects building on work we have already delivered – for example Gateshead's leadership to create a Community Diagnostic Centre at the Metro Centre. We have ambition to go further and are mapping out a 15- year programme, currently potentially valued at up to £3b. This early engagement gives us the opportunity to share information on technical services, construction and funding, and give you a chance to shape our thinking before we look for more formal partnerships this Autumn. While this is an amazing programme in its own right, it will be a missed opportunity if it does not add to the North East and North Cumbria economy and increase the skills and capability of the region.
