Description
Greater Manchester (GM) has ambitious plans to deliver economic growth and development. Existing devolution powers, further local control through a single settlement with Government, a track record of access, and the adoption of the Places for Everyone (PfE) joint development plan form strong foundations but additional public investment, particularly in infrastructure, is required to ensure we can deliver inclusive growth in line with our shared strategic vision and to deliver cross cutting outcomes benefitting the people of GM, as well as materially contributing to the national growth agenda. Northern Gateway is part of the innovation-led Atom Valley Mayoral Development Zone (MDZ) and a significant element of the GM vision; it includes the single largest employment allocation within PfE and provides the opportunity to deliver 13 million square feet of flexible employment space and 2,700 homes.
