NOTE: This notice was updated on 14 December 2023 for the following reason: The date of tender returns has been amended to 26th January at am(Rickmansworth Aquadrome Local Nature Reserve is a 41-hectare Green Flag award winning green space to the south of Rickmansworth town centre, extremely well-used for outdoor recreation, valued by the local community and rich in wildlife. It comprises two lakes, Bury Lake to the west and Batchworth Lake to the east, along with surrounding areas of open grassland and wet woodland. It is bounded to the north and east by the river Colne, to the south by the Grand Union Canal and to the west by Stockers Lake Local Nature Reserve. The large majority of the Aquadrome, with the exception of an area around the café and car park, is in Flood Zone 3. Parts of the site regularly become inaccessible due to flooding during the winter. This project aims to mitigate the impact of flooding on the site where possible and to identify options for access and habitat improvements which can be delivered without increasing local flood risk.
