Shore-to-Ship Power (SSP)-also known as Cold Ironing or Alternative Maritime Power (AMP)-is a system that allows ships docked at port to plug into the local electrical grid and turn off their diesel engines. This helps reduce air pollution, greenhouse gas emissions, and noise in port areas. London Gateway Port - A deep-sea container port located on the River Thames, opened in 2013. Operated by DP World, it features semi-automated terminals and advanced logistics. Hosts the UK's most integrated logistics hub with direct rail and road links. Includes a rapidly expanding logistics park for warehousing and distribution. Recently launched the world's first all-electric berth, emphasizing sustainability. DP World Southampton - One of the UK's busiest container terminals, located on the south coast. Offers fast, reliable, and secure cargo handling with advanced infrastructure. Known for the fastest landside turnaround time-averaging 35 minutes. Provides consistent vessel performance and resilient operations in high winds.
