Aim The key purpose of the research is to provide a comprehensive report that identifies key opportunities for the development of new degree apprenticeships. This report will provide the strategic foundation upon which decisions can be taken over where efforts should be directed across the next academic year. Research objectives • Assess the regional employment picture, paying particular attention to where there is existing or potential job growth; • Identify any existing or future skills gaps within the region, that degree apprenticeships could help to address. Specific attention should be given to the Local Skills Improvement Plan; • Assess competitor activity within this space, either as a means of identifying existing opportunities or to identify where competitors may already be taking advantage of an opportunity. Existing provision may indicate a lower threshold of difficulty to access a potential market; • Identify regional employers that could partner with the University to either expand its existing provision, or else introduce new degree apprenticeships.
