Description
The Margate School runs post-graduate creative arts courses. Exhibition, Studio and Technical Provision: Public gallery and community events space; circa 42 studio spaces; Fellowship offer, hot-desking facilities; Fabrication Laboratory, biolab and maker space; photography dark rooms; Community Outreach for families and children and local diverse creative communities. Public talks and events: community and sculpture garden. The Margate School utilises the current building, three floors and the basement of a former department store situated in the High Street of Margate that stood derelict for 11 years, and has been managed and repurposed over the last four years. The usage of the building, within the School's relatively modest means, means that we have had to undertake and manage the building maintenance, including fire surveys, reinstallment of electrics and amenities, creating studios, public gallery and teaching spaces by means of upcycling and repurposing materials.
