Description
Each year Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council are responsible for ensuring that all gas systems installed within Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Councils housing stock are serviced and checked for their safe operation. Regulation 36 of the Gas Safety (Installations and Use) Regulations 1998 (Amended 2018) imposes a duty upon Landlords of domestic properties to ensure that gas appliances and flues are maintained in a safe condition, annual safety checks are carried out and appropriate records kept and issued or displayed to tenants. These duties are in addition to the more general ones that Landlords have under the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 and the Management of Health & Safety at Work Regulations 1999. Landlord’s failing to comply with these regulations can be liable to prosecution and ensuing penalties. This document details the procedure to ensure Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council have robust systems in place to meet their legislative duty and to gain access to carry out these vital checks.
