Description

Greystones, located in County Wicklow, is a bustling commuter town experiencing significant daily traffic flow from the south to the north, primarily towards Bray and the greater Dublin area. Additionally, substantial residential development and increasing pupil numbers in various schools have placed considerable pressure on the current road network, which is neither suitable nor supportive of a shift to more sustainable modes of travel. Chapel Road, between Delgany and Blacklion, is a particularly busy section that has been under appraisal for several years. Multiple planning permissions granted along this section have led to the completion of various roadway segments through developer-led construction projects. While these developments are beneficial, they have resulted in a lack of continuity between the completed sections. This project aims to address the section of roadway from the Chapel Road and Convent Road Roundabout north to the Blacklion Manor Road, connecting to the Seagreen Housing Development.
