Description
In the context of KWF project 11766 IMPACT a research infrastructure for image guided irradiations of small animals (rats and mice) with ion beams and X-rays is under construction at UMCG PARTREC. An integrated X-ray imager and irradiator will be installed at the end of a new beam line for ion beam irradiations. It will perform the in-situ 2D and 3D X-ray imaging to define the irradiation plan for either ions or X-rays immediately prior to the irradiation and also be used to perform the X-ray irradiations. The system to be purchased consists of a dual focal spot X-ray source for imaging and irradiation, a 2D X-ray detection panel, an animal positioning system, a computer-based control system for X-ray imaging and irradiation as well animal positioning and software for 3D X-ray image processing.
