Entreprenaden består av mark- och anläggningsarbeten och ska resultera i utbyggnad från 2 till 4 spår för att göra plats för fler tåg och fler resenärer samt bidra till ökad punktlighet i hela regionen. Den cirka 20 kilometer långa sträckan mellan Tomteboda och Kallhäll i nordvästra Stockholm är en av landets mest trafikerade. Utbyggnaden bidrar till stadsutveckling i Mälardalsregionen när alla kommer fram smidigt, grönt och tryggt.
