Maynooth University operates under the ISO 50001:2018 certified Energy Management System (EnMS). This certification represents the university's proactive approach to decarbonisation, energy conservation and environmental responsibility. ISO 50001 is an internationally recognized standard that outlines the best practices for establishing, implementing, maintaining, and improving an energy management system. It’s goal is to enable organisations to follow a systematic approach in achieving continual improvement of energy performance, including energy efficiency, use, and consumption. Certification to this standard demonstrates Maynooth University’s commitment to managing energy resources responsibly and reducing their environmental impact. Maynooth University’s ISO50001 Energy Management System achieved re-certification in Spring 2024. The system operates across multiple Academic, Administrative, Residential, Commercial and Sports facilities on the North and South Campuses. Maynooth University requires a service provider to maintain and upkeep this on-site ISO50001 Energy Management System (EnMS) and to ensure re-certification of the system as required.
