Description

In the frame of its Nuclear Decommissioning and Waste Management programme, the JRC-Ispra has designed and qualified a Final Waste Package (FWP) to be used for conditioning low-level and very low-level solid radioactive waste. The FWP is based on a prismatic container made of carbon steel, referred as ‘CP-5.2’ according to the UNI Italian standard. The JRC-Ispra will have to acquire a significant amount of CP-5.2 containers in the coming years. Additionally to the supply of the CP-5.2 containers, the JRC-Ispra needs to purchase adjustable steel pallets, in order to temporarily store cylindrical containers (‘CC-220’ to ‘CC-440’) containing radioactive waste. The FWPs and the pallets are to be safely stored in the Interim Storage Facility of the JRC-Ispra. Ultimately, the FWPs will be transferred to the Italian final repository. The purpose of the tendering procedure is to purchase the CP-5.2 containers and the pallets by mean of a multi-annual framework contract.
