Uppdraget är att i enlighet med Kommunallagen (2017:725) kapitel 12 samt senaste ”God revisionssed i kommunal verksamhet”, vara sakkunnigt biträde till kommunens förtroendevalda revisorer för granskning av kommunens nämnder, styrelser, kommunalförbund samt eventuella beredningar och lekmannarevisorers granskning av bolagen.
