Description

The Howth FHC Dredging Project is a €30m+ project to dredge the harbour involves the dredging, stabilisation and beneficial reuse of circa 240,000 cubic metres of contaminated but non-hazardous bed material. This material is located within the confines of the West and East piers of Howth harbour in four main zones known as: * the fishing basin between West and Middle Piers * the channel which provides access from sea * the outer swing mooring area to the north of the inner break water * the inner Marina basin which is adjacent to the public slipway and channel It is proposed that this material is treated and stabilised using a pumped liquid mixing method in a location on the Middle Pier and pumped to a location to the West of the West Pier where it is to be used as the core infill of a new reclaimed multi use land area.
