Description
Academic integrity has always been a priority for TU Delft and therefore it performs a plagiarism check on all submitted bachelor and master theses. In addition, other writing assignments within various programmes are checked for plagiarism, whether or not as part of the education relating to academic skills. The current plagiarism detection software is a SaaS solution and is linked to the “Collaboration and Learning Environment” (hereinafter: CLE) of TU Delft called Brightspace, via an LTI link. At TU Delft, plagiarism checks for student work are performed only within Brightspace. Teaching staff members have the option in their Brightspace courses to switch on plagiarism detection for the assignments they prepare. When the plagiarism detection is activated, a plagiarism report is created of each submitted student work in that course. The teaching staff member then uses this plagiarism report to assess whether the student has committed plagiarism or fraud. The plagiarism detection software searches public sources, academic sources and a database of previously submitted student works at TU Delft.
