Motala kommun planerar en omfattande om- och tillbyggnad av Simhallen i Motala. Motala simhall är en kommunal badanläggning i Motala som erbjuder både motionssimning, lek och olika vattenaktiviteter för alla åldrar. Här finns en 25-metersbassäng med sex banor samt en mindre varmare bassäng för lek och nybörjare, kompletterad med hopptorn, trampolin och lekytor. Anläggningen används för simskolor, undervisning och föreningsverksamhet, men rymmer även relaxdel och andra aktiviteter kopplade till hälsa och fritid. Simhallen invigdes 1970 och är Motalas enda inomhusbad, men är idag i behov av omfattande renovering och planen är att bygga om den och utveckla den för framtida behov. Under byggtiden kommer simhallen att ha pågående verksamhet men viss stängning kan bli aktuellt. Byggarbetet ska planeras effektivt och klokt i samverkan med tilldelad entreprenör för att pågående verksamheter ska kunna fungera kontinuerligt och utan störningar. Kommunen planerar en samverkansentreprenad, där upphandlingen pågår under våren 2026 där anbud tas in innan semestern. Slutlig kvalificering och utvärdering sker under mitten/slutet av augusti 2026.
