Description
The Kilmacrennan Road scheme is proposed along the R-229-1 Kilmacrennan Road from the Hospital Roundabout to Knocknamona Roundabout. The scheme generally proposes narrowing of the existing carriageway to 3.25m lanes and the removal of right-turn lanes to facilitate active travel facilities. The kerb line on the east side of the carriageway will remain as existing whereas the kerb line on the west side will be realigned and the space reallocated to active travel facilities. The scheme aims to provide improved pedestrian and cycle facilitates connecting existing housing estates in the vicinity; healthcare facilities (Letterkenny University Hospital and St Conals’ Hospital) and educational facilities (Errigal College). Connectivity to Letterkenny town centre will also be improved. The scope of the works involves everything that is contained within Volume A - Works Requirements Drawings and Specifications.
