Uppdraget består i att utföra fältkontroll av spår och andra observationer av stora rovdäggdjur (gäller främst lodjur och varg eller andra stora rovdäggdjur om sådana förekommer inom länet). Hela Skåne ingår i inventeringsområdet men var huvuddelen av uppdragen förläggs beror på de stora rovdäggdjurens aktuella utbredning, genetiska status m.m. Flera leverantörer kan antas.
