Účelom stavby je prestavba mosta č. 66-083 podľa aktuálnych STN a EU noriem kvôli zabezpečeniu bezpečnosti dopravy na tomto dôležitom cestnom ťahu. Cieľom je prestavba mosta a rekonštrukcia priľahlého úseku cesty I/66 tak, aby sa zlepšil stavebno-technický stav mosta a bolo zabezpečené plynulé a bezpečné prevedenie motorovej a nemotorovej dopravy.
