Description
The objective of the activity is to explore new concepts and technologies for the system internal data dissemination (Ground-to-Space and Space-to-Space) in multi-layer satellite navigation systems, with potential application to the future of Galileo. The new solutions shall explore alternative equipment/payload architectures with multi-link capabilities and aim at the integration of the so-called PNT backhaul functions (mission data transportation, satellite control & monitoring data transportation, and ranging) in a single equipment/technology. The activity includes prototyping of the most technologically critical building blocks. This activity belongs to Galileo/EGNOS Upstream R&D which is part of the space component of Horizon Europe, under which, in line with the signed FFPA and relevant Contribution Agreement, ESA is delegated by the European Commission to manage this activity. ESA adapted procurement rules will apply as per the ITT to be published (open Competition in 2 stages). ESA reserves the right to place one parallel Contract subject to weighted quality of the proposal of at least 60 points, budget availability and related programmatic decision.
