Description

The services required may include but will not be limited to scientific support to monitor NPWS flux chamber and eddy covariance greenhouse gas (GHG) monitoring sites, and to instrument and set-up new sites at various locations. The main objectives: • Continue NPWS flux chamber and eddy covariance monitoring programme carried out from 2020-2024. • Set-up and install two new flux towers for EU WAN and Tóchar Projects. • Set-up and carry out flux-chamber monitoring programme on 4 WAN sites. • Maintain and monitor FDOM monitoring stations. • Collect DOC samples for FDOM calibration. • Provide GHG expertise for EDRRS project evaluation. • Develop an ecosystem GHG database for national and international reporting purposes. • Support NPWS in developing and maintaining an ecohydrological monitoring network for ecological management purposes. The work is essential to help improve the understanding of ecosystem biogeochemical processes and their role in climate change adaptation and mitigation. This contract will continue and expand the work carried out as part of a similar contract delivered 2020-2024. The contract is expected to be delivered by the end of 2028.
