2016. godine potpisan je sporazum između Grada Zagreba i Hrvatske autoceste d.o.o. s ciljem realizacije projekta „Izgradnja prijelaza preko Ranžirnog kolodvora i rekonstrukcije Sarajevske ulice s izgradnjom tramvajske pruge“, koji je od izuzetne važnosti budući da predstavlja posljednju dionicu pristupne ceste autocesti Zagreb-Sisak, poveznicu sa zagrebačkom obilaznicom, nov južni izlaz iz grada te najkraću vezu sa zračnom lukom. Prema Sporazumu, izgradnja prijelaza preko Ranžirnog kolodvora u nadležnosti je Hrvatskih autocesta, a rekonstrukcija Sarajevske ulice s izgradnjom tramvajske pruge je u nadležnosti Grada Zagreba.
