Description

European Instrument for International Nuclear Safety Cooperation (INSC) Annual Action Plan 2026 Annex – Component A4: Türkiye – Service contract. The capacities of the Turkish nuclear regulatory authority (NDK) and its Technical Support Organization (NÜTED) are being developed in parallel with the construction of the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant. An ongoing INSC intervention (ending end of April 2027) is supporting regulatory framework consolidation and alignment with EU and international standards. Further support is needed to complement or follow-up the results achieved so far, in particular in regulatory areas such as nuclear safety, radiation safety and radiation protection, safe radioactive waste management, radioactive transport safety, inspection as well as the interface between safety and security.
