Intuitive da Vinci SP-roboten har en unik teknisk utformning som skiljer sig väsentligt från andra tillgängliga system på marknaden. Systemet möjliggör att samtliga instrument och kamera förs in genom en enda port, till skillnad från andra robotsystem som kräver flera portar för att triangulera operationsfältet. Denna design ger flera kliniska fördelar: Möjlighet att utföra kirurgi via naturliga kroppsöppningar samt i anatomiskt trånga utrymmen Minskat vävnadstrauma vilket leder till kortare operationstider, minskat behov av vårdplatser och framför allt ett lindrat postoperativt lidande för patienten Särskilt lämplig för transoral kirurgi, vilket är av stor betydelse för den ledande forskningen och behandlingen inom ÖNH-området på Sahlgrenska Möjliggör även robotassisterad bröstkirurgi Vidare är da Vinci SP det enda systemet med fullt integrerad fluorescensfunktionalitet.
