Description
Due to the renewal of the 23-year-old halogen runway lighting equipment at BIRK, a new LED Aeronautical Ground Lighting (e.g. runway lights, taxiway lights) must be purchased. It is common and best practice in any Aeronautical Ground Lighting design to ensure compatibility and uniformity across the same airfield system and this encompasses not just the light itself, but also the installation criteria as defined by a light fitting manufacturer (deep or shallow base can installation, seating and adapter ring size, fitting bolt torque settings, horizontal and vertical beam direction etc). Isavia regional airports and the Isavia ANS electricians who install and service the equipment for all major airports in Iceland follow the predetermined security procedure to purchase the same system type (type/model/manufacturer) that is present used at Reykjavík Airport, at other regional airports in Iceland and are also used at Keflavíkurflugvöllur by Isavia OHF.
