Description
FMV has created a program for new logistics vessels within the Royal Swedish Navy. Within this program the need of four NSVs has been identified. The Naval support vessel is planned to belong to the Naval logistic battalions with the purpose to support other units. The operational area is mainly coastal in the Baltic Sea and on the Swedish west coast, but the NSVs must be able to re-base on their own keel to operational areas in, for example, the Gulf of Finland. The primary purpose of the new NSVs is transport of materiel and equipment necessary for solving operational tasks. This includes technical service, spare parts, goods in the form of e.g. palletized equipment, food, fuel, containers and vehicles. An essential task for the NSV is fuel supply, which places demands on fixed tanks and bunkering equipment. The ship must be able to supply fuel to other ships and land units. In addition, the ship must be able to receive black and gray water, garbage and be able to conduct medical transports.
