Description

The council intends to tender contracts for the disposal of all residual waste, which may include haulage. This covers approximately 78,000 tonnes of black bag waste and 12,100 tonnes of bulky waste, with the contracts scheduled to begin in September 2027. In addition, the council plans to tender the processing of its comingled recycling, which may also include haulage. This involves around 35,000 tonnes of fully comingled material and is expected to start at the same time. Due to the nature of the legacy councils (BCP Council was formed in April 2019), there are a number of waste contracts, some combined across legacy areas. As a result, the same type of waste may currently be managed differently depending on where it originated from e.g. directly delivered or bulked at a transfer station. Prospective suppliers should be aware of our sustainability targets, and our ambition to deal with our waste as locally as possible to fulfil our proximity principle aspirations (although we understand our location in the south may offer some limitations).
