Description
The scheme requires the design and construction of a new road to form part of a new strategic highway known as Sturry Link Road (SLR). The site is located 3km to the north-east of Canterbury, in Kent, on the western outskirts of the village of Sturry. The scheme comprises 550 metres of new single carriageway and southbound bus lane, which will be supported for 250 metres on a multi-span structure over six spans each in the order of 42 metres to carry the road over both arms of the Great Stour River, its flood plain and the Canterbury to Ramsgate railway line. North and south of the structure the new road will be supported on embankments leading to two new roundabouts. It also includes construction of surface water storage ponds and environmental mitigation work. The Contractor will be responsible for the design and construction of the whole of the works, obtaining technical approval and for the discharge of all planning conditions and associated costs, and for obtaining all other necessary third-party approvals and consents.
