Description
The Council commissions organisations to deliver homework clubs and academic support to children and young people in the borough, aged 2- 19, to increase children’s confidence in learning and to provide a place with support that will offer an environment conducive to learning. Through a range of aspiration and confidence building activities, the service supports children with their homework and complements their academic learning at school in line with curriculum objectives. The clubs also provide opportunities for social interaction and address gaps in language and literacy with the understanding that some parents do not have English as a first language. The Council also commissions the supplementary school’s partnership which provides a coordinating role to ensure the quality, safeguarding, training, and development of the schools to deliver learning opportunities to children.
