Description

New Lodge Extra Care Housing Scheme is a community set in its own grounds in the garden village of New Earswick, located 2.5 miles north of York’s historic city centre. New Lodge was opened by the Joseph Rowntree Trust (JRHT) in 2019, and is a purpose-built set of 105 extra care apartments and a registered care home (Rowntree Lodge). Extra Care schemes allow residents to live independently with the reassurance that staff are on site as required. The requirement of Extra Care schemes include that residents should be able to access background/ad-hoc support 24/7. Any individual resident who wants to have an individual planned package of care can organise this, and residents retain the choice of who provides this care. JRHT wishes to commission a 3rd party care provider who they will pay directly to be based on site 24/7 to provide specific elements of ad hoc/background support. JRHT will pay the new provider directly for this service, which is currently partially funded via collection of a support charge that all residents, regardless of individual needs, contribute to.
