Description
Plymouth City Council ('The Council') are seeking a main contractor to undertake the design and construction of the replacement pontoon and associated bridgehead repairs at the Mount Batten Watersports and Activities Centre, Plymouth. The existing pontoon has reached the end of its operational life and requires replacement. The objectives of the project are to: - Improve inclusive access to the Plymouth Sound National Marine Park at Mount Batten Watersports Centre - Provide a new permanent facility for the Mount Batten Ferry within the replacement pontoon arrangement - Restore the current bridgehead to ensure continuity of the above - To do so, whilst minimising the impact on operation of the water sports centre and ferry, reducing whole life greenhouse gas emissions and enhancing the marine environment The core elements of the design and build contract will include, but are not limited to: - Bridgehead repairs with the addition of environmental enhancements like artificial reef tiles - Removal and disposal of the existing pontoon structure - Supply and installation of a new pontoon system - Piling work as required - Linkspan installation - Potential reuse of existing elements, suc…
