Description
The Council has identified a need for supported living for c800 with disabilities in Hertfordshire over the next five years (2025-2030) This includes provision for people: • Transitioning from children’s services • Currently residing with family who now need a home of their own. • Currently residing in residential care whose support needs have reduced. • Currently residing in supported living which is shared and are now needing self-contained housing. • Currently residing in supported living outside of Hertfordshire who wish to return to return. The Council is exploring the best approach to work with developing Registered Providers (both Housing Associations and Local Authorities) (‘RPs’) to deliver, own and manage accommodation on Council owned land via a long lease (virtual freehold). The Council is currently undertaking preparatory work on six Council owned land-led sites with a view to progressing design and enabling works during 2025-26, construction in 2026/27 – 2027/28 and completion and handover in 2027–30.
