Description
NOVA, The Netherlands Research School for Astronomy, is the collaboration to advance astronomical research between the universities of Amsterdam, Groningen, Leiden and Nijmegen in The Netherlands. As part of its mission to conduct astronomical research at the top international level, NOVA develops instruments for the foremost telescopes and observatories around the world. To this end NOVA maintains several groups of experts in instrument development, one of these being the NOVA sub-mm instrumentation group, located at the Kapteyn Institute of the University of Groningen. The NOVA sub-mm group is currently engaged in the development and construction of sub-mm receiver cartridges for the Atacama Large Millimeter Array (ALMA) in Chile. Specifically, the current development is for the Band 2 receivers, sensitive to wavelengths from 67GHz to 116 GHz. Each of these receivers consist of a Warm (WCA) and Cold (CCA) Cartridge Assembly. A total of 73 receivers, each consisting of a WCA and CCA will be built, tested and delivered, under a contract with the European Southern Observatory (ESO). We intend to award the contract for the so-called YIG Oscillators using the negotiated procedure. YI…
