Description
WML is verantwoordelijk voor het op duurzame wijze veiligstellen van de openbare drinkwatervoorziening in Limburg (Drinkwaterwet, 2011). Een belangrijke taak die hieruit voortvloeit is het beschermen van de grondwaterbronnen die nodig zijn voor de waterwinning. Daartoe beheert WML in Midden- en Zuid-Limburg een dertigtal bedrijfs-, waterwingebieden en natuurterreinen. Het beheer van deze terreinen zijn gericht op het creëren en in stand houden van zodanige fysieke terreinomstandigheden en -voorzieningen dat waterwinning in technische zin duurzaam kan plaatsvinden en kan worden uitgebreid.
